London in One Day

The perfect 9-hour itinerary for first-time visitors. Seven stops, one famous skyline, and exactly enough walking. Tube-friendly and family-friendly.

Why this itinerary works

It links London's most photographed icons in a single tube-light loop: start at Westminster, walk to Buckingham Palace for the Changing of the Guard, cut through Trafalgar Square to Covent Garden for lunch, then jump on the District line east to the Tower of London, Tower Bridge and Borough Market for dinner. No taxis needed.

Tips for one perfect day

  • Buy a contactless travel card or use Apple/Google Pay — no need for an Oyster card.
  • Most of the walking is along the Thames — wear comfortable shoes.
  • Book Tower of London tickets the night before to skip the morning queue.
  • Borough Market closes early (around 5pm) — go for lunch instead and have dinner nearby.
  • Dinner alternative: Padella for pasta or Roast for a proper British meal — both walk-up.
